Day 2 - Masterrace - South American Branch

In the morning we walked down to the restaurant, some less hardy travellers used the golf buggies - but it was not far. On the way down we saw our first iguana. Breakfast was the best ever with freshly squeezed fruit to order, breathtaking selection of breads and fruit, coffee, cakes etc etc - more than you could ever cope with. Placed was packed, mostly with Americans from the USA but also Canadians and a small but noisy cliche of (looked and acted like) escapees from the Third Reich on vacation from Colombia or Bolivia. When we went out to the pool to chill and read the very same cliche had secured sunbeds with towels and then proceeded to spend the entire time at the bar, never using the sunbeds - prognosis confirmed.

Lunch was very similar to Breakfast (not in content but in quality and size) and we had barely recovered from all the eating and chillin when it was time for Dinner. The main restaurant offered similar fare followed by a stint in the bar with Exebendum liqueur. Energy bypass dictated that the midnight disco was not going to work and also notwithstanding energy level the evening entertainment (cruise style) was not going to feature on our intinerary.

Checked excursions with the tour guide (when she turned up) and booked the three night guided tour of Tulum, Coba, Chitchen Itza, Uxmal and Merida (for shopping). It was the most expensive tour, which took us a way from the hotel for three days, but included the major sites plus a tour around lesser known Coba - sounded great - two days to wait, so more time to chill.
