Flight to Cancun relatively uneventful; hot in Cancun, hotter whilst we waited in line at Customs - there were several planes in from the States and the Mexicans were making a point. Eventually got through and found the bus that would transfer us to the hotel.
Bus drove round Cancun (student party town) with a few glimpses of a very blue sea and white sandy beaches. Stopped at a very smart hotel and some guests got off. Stopped at lots of hotels after this, each one rather lower standard than the previous one - still we were not called. Eventually the hotels were getting very poor - then a quite long trip on the road south towards Tulum; by this time we were assuming the worst for our hotel - then we saw the magnificent Bahia Principe Hotel, Tulum (not in Tulum, but very good location) - in the midst of the jungle with a long beach frontage and stunning faux Mayan architecture.
Fruit juice at reception, shown to a large well equipped room with excellent air conditioning's, furniture and balcony.
Introduced to the concept of 'all inclusive' with a restaurant groaning with food, much of which we could eat, fruit juices and drinks - all at no extra charge.
